Our story
AfricAroma brings you the distinctive character of Ugandan coffee. Fresh Red Cherries are selectively hand-picked, sorted, floated and sun-dried in well-ventilated solar dryers on raised beds. Each batch is processed under strict quality control to ensure exceptional cup quality and consistency.
It is the consumer coffee brand of Rwandaro Coffee Farmers Co-operative Society Ltd, a farmer-owned cooperative working to improve farmers’ livelihoods through quality coffee production, processing and value addition.
The journey
At Rwandaro, quality begins with the coffee farmer. Carefully selected ripe coffee cherries are hand-picked to preserve quality and ensure only the best fruit proceeds for processing. Where applicable to the coffee’s processing method, cherries are floated to help separate unsuitable fruit before drying.
For naturally processed coffee, selected cherries are carefully dried on raised beds in well-ventilated solar dryers and turned regularly to promote even drying and reduce the risk of contamination. The coffee is then processed and prepared for roasting under quality-control procedures designed to preserve its character and consistency.
The selected green coffee is roasted to a medium profile and packed as whole beans, so you can grind it fresh at home, bringing Rwandaro’s value addition journey directly to the consumer.
Brewing guide
1For the best aroma, grind just before brewing. Start with approximately 7–10 g of beans for every 150–180 ml of water, and adjust to your preferred strength.
2Use fresh, clean water just off the boil. Choose a grind to suit your brewer – coarser for a French press, medium for a filter or drip brewer – and adjust brewing time to the equipment you use.
3Serve fresh and enjoy it black or with milk and your preferred sweetener.
Keep it fresh
Keep the coffee in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight, heat and moisture.
Reseal the pack tightly after opening, or transfer the coffee to a clean, dry, airtight container.
Keep it away from strong-smelling foods and substances.
For the best aroma and flavour, consume soon after opening and follow the best-before date printed on the package.
